Sonya Imperio, MT-BC

Sonya is the Operations Manager at the Worcester Center for Expressive Therapies and a board certified music therapist, and adaptive private lessons teacher for the company. She grew up in Southern New Hampshire and gratefully serves clients between there and Central Massachusetts in both clinical and educational capacities. She teaches piano, voice, guitar, and ukulele, and enjoys working with a wide range of ages in the clinical setting.

Sonya began learning the piano at six years old, which became her primary connection to the arts and pathway to her career. She studied music therapy in Central MA, completing her practicum at Perkins School for the Blind and internship at UMass Memorial Children’s Medical Center and Adult Palliative Care. In her professional interactions, she strives to imbue her work with the inspiration drawn from her own relationship with music. She continues to foster that relationship as an experienced church musician and soloist, greatly enjoying the meaningful collaboration within her community.

Sonya is continually inspired by the unique connection she makes with each student and client who comes into her life. Her goal is to help make music accessible for growth and wellness to all ages and abilities, whether that be through adaptive lessons or music therapy.
